Reps to examine non take-off of HYPADEC after 5 years

The House of Representatives on Tuesday, commanded its Committee on Power, when constituted, to explore the non take-off of the Hydro Power Producing Areas Development Commission (HYPADEC).

This took after a movement on the need to address the non take-off of the commission five years after the Act setting up it was agreed upon.

The movement, supported by Rep. Mohammad Mahmud, noticed that the sixth Assembly passed the Bill and was emphasized to by President Goodluck Jonathan on Aug. 10, 2010.

Mahmud communicated worry that five years after the law, the commission had yet to take off.

``This circumstance has uncovered the groups inside of the range of operation of the hydroelectric dams to biological difficulties.

``The entirety of N352.57 million was appropriated in 2011 financial plan for the take-off of the commission while nothing was appropriated in 2012 and 2013 financial plans.

``However, the commission got an allotment of N247.50 million in 2014 and N10.00million in 2015 financial plans individually'', the administrator expressed.

He focused on that the non take-off of the commission had conveyed tremendous hardship to the populace of the zones.
